ANTHRAX’s Joey Belladonna: “I was kicked out of the band.” – THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA release the video for their new single ‘Black Stars And Diamonds’ – Roy Khan is very happy that KAMELOT was able to continue without him and is preparing a solo album.
Joey Belladonna, -whose most recent return to ANTHRAX was officially announced in May 2010, and was originally the lead singer of ANTHRAX from 1984 to 1992-, has commented on his split with ANTHRAX who “was kicked out” of the band.
Belladonna said about the time she was away from ANTHRAX (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I didn’t give up… I wanted to sit by for 13 years while these guys moved on. People don’t want to hear it, but that’s the truth. Why would I resign? I want to confirm that I did not resign. I didn’t give up anything. I don’t want anyone to think that, because I wouldn’t even have the heart to do it.”
Joey also addressed the fact that he went back to ANTHRAX despite being publicly criticized by some of the other band members in various interviews over the years.
“Some people said to me, ‘Why the hell are you back with them? Why did you come back? You are stupid, you are an idiot. They cheated on you twice. Don’t go back to them.”
“Every day I walk in their presence in the room where we play knowing that these people felt that way, but I never felt that way for them. And obviously I’m back. And I like what we’re doing right now, I like what we’re doing. But it’s difficult. It’s hard. You have a complex, you know?»

“After our amazing concert at Metalfest in Plzen, some of us decided to stay one more day in Prague. Since we had a new gem up our sleeve, we couldn’t resist shooting a video. Thus, we spent 8 hours traveling in the back of a trailer through Prague while waving and meeting smiles and enthusiasm from the people on the streets. It was an incredibly hot day that turned into a tropical night and this is what it turned out! Enjoy it!

In a new interview with chaoszin, roy khan, whose full name is Roy Sætre Khantatat, said of his split from KAMELOT (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I’m very, very grateful that KAMELOT was able to carry on without me, because I had no intention of hurting the band. It was a very personal decision and I just had to do it. And I’m glad it all worked out in the end… They managed to carry on without me, and I’m very grateful for that, really.”

I have tons of songs that just need to be recorded. It’s about finding the time and inspiration, the right people and energy…”
“Making an album, a complete album, is a complex process. When you’re a band, we divide the work between us, but making a whole album yourself takes a lot of work and really consumes you over a very long period of time. I mean, when you listen to a record, it’s maybe an hour of music, maybe 45 minutes, but to do those 45 minutes, it might take two or three years. It is a process that consumes a lot of energy and time. So I guess I’m a little tired of eating myself and ending up where I was, where I left KAMELOT. Because part of it was what was consuming my whole life. I was becoming a character that was on stage. Even when he was home, he was Roy Khan. I’m not sure my wife and kids were too happy about it.”
The 52-year-old Norwegian singer announced his departure from KAMELOT in April 2011 after taking several months off to recover from “burnout”.
After his departure from KAMELOT, Khan, who is a devout Christian, joined a church in the coastal town of Moss, Norway. And later, he came back with a new and updated version of CONCEPTION.
