An “understanding” Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) kicks a fan out of a concert: “We do not allow violence”

Eddie Vedder, Pearl Jam frontman, was forced to expel a fan from one of his shows after a violent reaction from her on June 23. This happened at a concert in Zurich, Switzerland, more specifically while the band was playing “Animal”.

And it is that the times in which people could fight or “fuck her” during a rock concert have passed. Both organizers and bands are also increasingly concerned about the welfare and safety of fans. If someone gets violent at a show, he can assume they’re going to get kicked out of it. This is what happened to the Swiss fan that Vedder had to call out.

Seeing this person get violent, Vedder stopped the song and said: “Turn on the lights, please. Hey, hey, hey, hey – I’ve seen it all, I know, I was bugging you. You were bugging him because he’s been recording the whole time. Was it the whole concert or just now? Only now when I’ve gotten close? Has it been all the time? Yes, you’re recording everyone.”

As assertive and understanding as Vedder was, he had no choice but to kick the fan out of the concert: “The thing is, I know he’s upset you, but you can’t hit him on the back of the head either, even if you’re a woman. I appreciate the fact that you’re strong. Stop hitting him – you have to get out of here. Violence is not allowed. I’m sorry ma’am, violence is not allowed. You could have warned me, I was looking at you. I’m sorry, it’s not right, we don’t hit people here. I’m sorry.”

The Pearl Jam singer does not tolerate violence. Six years ago, Vedder already stopped a Pearl Jam concert when he saw a fan become violent. And it is that the band already had to live a tragedy in the year 2000 when, during the celebration of the Roskilde festival in Denmark, new fans died after an avalanche among the public. The group was about to dissolve as a result of this terrible accident.
