Aída Cuevas will celebrate 47 years of career with a concert in Sonoma County

With her ‘I think it’s time’ tour, Aída Cuevas arrives in Sonoma County to celebrate 47 years of musical career and delight her countrymen to the rhythm of mariachi.

In a telephone interview with La Prensa Sonoma, the Grammy and Latin Grammy-winning singer shared the emotion she feels when performing for the first time at Green Music Center’s Weill Hall on October 13, just 10 days after celebrating 47 years as a singer.

“I am very happy to be able to go to Sonoma to sing for the first time. I have taken my Mexican music to many parts of the American Union, but places are still missing,” shared Cuevas.

The singer, recognized by her fans and within the ranchera music guild as a great exponent of Mexican music, has more than 40 albums and 10 million copies sold, in addition to being known in various countries.

“I want to tell my countrymen that I am going to bring them a little piece of Mexico through my music, my singing, my costumes, our ballet and the mariachi is wonderful, so I invite you and I hope you will join me for a magical night. Mexican”, affirmed the artist.

Cuevas, who has performed great hits such as Viva México, I keep loving you, Maybe tomorrow, La cicada, among many others, affirms that being faithful to his roots has been key in his admirable career.

“I am very orthodox for my music, I like to respect the charro suit, preserve the mariachi, now we bring some extra elements to give it a modern touch, but without losing the essence of ranchera music.”

The Mexican shared that it always fills her with joy to see not only her countrymen in her presentations, but also all her Latin American brothers and even Americans who enjoy her music.

Aida Cuevas is considered the most important female voice of ranchera music in Mexico, but she recognizes that the path has not been easy, since she began taking singing lessons at the age of 11.

“It is a blessing to be able to reach the heart of the public, to sing ranchera music, especially in Mexico it is undervalued, especially to the woman who sings it, that is why we are very few ranchera music singers, but I do it with a lot of passion.”

The singer, who shared the stage with personalities such as Juan Gabriel and Armando Manzanero, sent an important message to the women of the world who seek to stand out in different areas.

“The most important thing is to have passion for what you do, because when there is passion there is nothing to stop you, so the fundamental thing is love and respect for what you do.”

In fact, Cuevas recorded an album that Juan Gabriel produced exclusively for her, Aida Cuevas Canta a Juan Gabriel (1983). With that record, Cuevas established herself as one of the prominent artists in Mexico; the record is still selling.

When questioned about the responsibility of being considered one of the most important voices in Mexican music, she assured that it is an honor that she owes to her people.

“It is a privilege that the public grants me, the public is the one that crowns you, as Juan Gabriel used to say, nobody takes your crown away from you once the people put it on you. I feel really flattered and responsible because people are going to see the queen of ranchera music.”

Cuevas also said she was happy to return to the stage after two years of the pandemic, which hit the world of music by forcing the cancellation of concerts and presentations. But the singer is happy to have overcome the disease, to be fully vaccinated and to feel the love of her followers again.

“Happy, delighted, I had to cancel my tour for two years, I already had to win to step on a stage, to feel the affection of the people, to feel the applause and above all to sing my ranchera music and although it is not over yet, well we must follow each other taking care with the mask and with the vaccines, to gradually return to normality, ”he concluded.
