A storm forces the cancellation of the second day of Rototom concerts

A storm with strong gusts of wind has forced the organization of the most important reggae festival in Europe, the Rototom Sunsplash in Benicàssim (Castellón), to cancel the second day of concerts and order the evacuation of the concert venue for security reasons.

The cancellation has been notified by the public address system of the concert venue -the same one that hosts other festivals such as the FIB and SanSan, next to the N-340- after midnight, according to eyewitnesses and can be seen in videos uploaded to social networks by of some of the thousands of attendees at this event.

Apparently, the organization has ordered the public to go to the camping area and evacuate the concert venue. On the day of this Tuesday, among other artists and groups, Julian Marley, from the Marley saga, performed.

The Rototom Sunsplash festival began its program of concerts and parallel events -especially the Social Forum- last Tuesday and its completion is scheduled for next Monday.

In the province of Castellón, a succession of stormy showers has been recorded since Wednesday afternoon, sometimes accompanied by electrical equipment and strong gusts of wind, which have also been felt in the Bejís area, devastated since Monday by a forest fire that has devastated more than 10,000 hectares and that has not yet been controlled.

It so happens that this is at least the third festival that has registered problems related to the weather in the Valencian Community since last weekend, after the Medusa de Cullera (Valencia) had to be canceled due to the collapse of several structures of the venue -which caused one death and dozens of injuries- and the Rabolagartija de Villena (Alicante) will urgently evict its 5,000 attendees due to the strong wind.
