Every great film production always has unknown stories. “titanic” (1997), one of the highest grossing films in the history of cinema, does not escape this and recently its director, the famous James Cameron, gave an account of an unknown anecdote until now. Director James Cameron gave an interview to “People” magazine during the last gala of the Golden Globes 2023. In it, he assured that It took him a while to convince DiCaprio to assume the lead role of “Titanic.”
“He didn’t want to play the lead. I had to squeeze him to be in the movie. I did not want to do it”, said the producer, who also revealed the reason DiCaprio gave him for rejecting the offer. “I thought it was boring”he assured.
For this reason, the filmmaker had to explain to him that playing Jack would be a real challenge and a great opportunity in his career. “In the end he accepted the role, but only when I convinced him that it really was a tough challenge.”Cameron explained.
In fact, that character is one of the things that James likes most about the actor. “It doesn’t surprise me, first of all, that he’s made a lot of authentic decisions going forward”he claimed. “And secondly, I never doubted his talent”added the director.
