Before that, the stories were standalone or with fleeting appearances by other heroes. To be honest, not all the films released by the studio were received in the same way, even so the MCU gained a certain reputation.
This forced DC to try to match them with the new versions of “Batman”, “Wonder Woman” and “Aquaman”, which they came together in “Justice League”. Despite his efforts, he failed to have the same effect as his competitor.
Now the company will take a drastic change to remedy this situation. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav said DC is a priority for the studio and there will be a “10-year plan focused only on DC”.
Similarly, they ensured that they want to focus on quality and films that do not meet the standards will not be released.
WHO WILL BE IN CHARGE OF RESTRUCTURING DC?
Until now, no mention of who will lead the team that will build the new route, although there is a name that has attracted attention. Warner Bros Discovery rehired Alan Horn in a consulting position after he left Disney in 2021.
Previously, Horn was the chief operating officer of Warner Bros. from 1999 to 2011. Under his direction, the studio had many successes.including “Harry Potter” and Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight” trilogy.
His return to Warner Bros. could mean that Zaslav Hopes To Return DC To Blockbuster which was during the days of “The Dark Knight”, while bringing everything he learned at Disney to the MCU.
Considering the resounding failures they’ve had, like some Zach Snyder tapes, a change would be a good thing. However, what many still do not understand is the decision not to release the films made, even through the platform.
WHAT OTHER DC FILMS ARE AT RISK?
While the cancellation of “Batgirl” is confirmed, rumors have begun to circulate that other films would be at risk. One of them would besuper girl”, which was going to star Sasha Calle and was derived from “The Flash”.
So far, nothing is safe, as it seems that every little DC project, from “Zatanna” to “Static Shock” it is ready to be discarded if it does not fit the vision of the new regime.
Also, there is a possibility that the studio will also delay the release dates of expected and important titles such as “Shazam: fury of the gods” and “Aquaman: the lost kingdom”.
