Tom Cruise’s latest feat is to fly hanging from a plane

Tom Cruise, at 60 years of age, should have us used to the fact that he will do more and more extreme feats in his movies, from making HALO-type parachute jumps to drop out of a helicopter in full flight, and much more. But even so, it is impossible not to sigh in amazement at the sight of his new feat.

And it is that good old Tom has thought that the best way to promote his two most recent films, the already released and fascinating Top Gun: Maverickand the next Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning: Part I, has been appearing in video form at CinemaCon flying on a small plane or plane. And when I say “on the plane” I mean on top of it, outside of its small cabin or pilot’s seat, standing on its structure talking to the camera with complete calm, as if it were doing the most normal thing in the world.

But this is not all, to end the video, after Christopher McQuarrie, director of the new Mission Impossibleappears next to him flying in another plane, it has occurred to them to turn the planes upside down in mid-flight, with Tom still outside.

It’s such a surreal and wonderfully absurd video that it blew my mind. In fact, I confess that when the second plane appeared for a moment I thought Tom was going to jump from one to the other. He hasn’t, but still I haven’t stopped being surprised.

This is the kind of feat that has characterized Tom Cruise during his career, especially in the last two decades and with the saga Mission Impossible, where he seems to want to improve himself in each of the films and do more extreme things. We saw him climbing the Burj Khalifa and hanging from another plane while it was taking off, and we already know that we will see him in this new movie jumping into the void on a motorcycle and dangling from this little red plane. Because Cruise is the biggest Hollywood star of recent times and that’s how he reminds us. What crazy thing will he do next? Oh yes, he wants to record scenes in the space.
