Starring Andrew Garfield in the title role (inspired by Larson), a young theater composer who waits tables in a New York City restaurant in 1990, as he writes what he hopes will be the next great American musical. In the trailer you can see Garfield accompanied by other actors such as Vanessa Hudgens, Bradley Whitford, Jordan Fisher, Judith Light, Joanna Adler, Joshua Henry, Alex D Jennings, Marie Rose Baramo, Jared Loftin y Kenita Miller.

The synopsis comments on the following:

“Days before he shows his work in a decisive performance, Jon feels pressure from everywhere: from his girlfriend Susan (Alexandra Shipp), who dreams of an artistic life beyond New York City; from his friend Michael (Robin de Jesús), who has gone from his dream to a life of financial security. In the midst of an arts community ravaged by the AIDS epidemic, Jon feels the clock ticking and is faced with the question everyone must face: What are we supposed to do with the time we have?

Miranda said in a statement that this movie is:

“As a corner of the world that I know from all angles. I know what it is to be a composer who fights for his dreams. I know what it is to be 20 years old and to be writing that musical that fills you with enthusiasm. I know what it is to be in New York with a group of friends with artistic dreams and then watching them surrender one by one to real life, while you’re still trying not to give up. ‘Tick, Tick … Boom!’ revolves around redoubling your efforts for your craft and your passion even when you have every chance against you.

Directed by Steven Levenson, the film is scheduled to premiere later this year on Netflix.
