This is the actor who will replace Henry Cavill in the movie ‘Superman: Legacy’ by James Gunn |

This Tuesday DC Studios announced the actor who will give life to the mythical ‘Man of Steel’ and who will replace Hollywood star Henry Cavill in the ‘Superman’ movie by American director James Gunn.

DC Studios appointed actor David Corenswet, as the one in charge of playing Clark Kent and replacing Cavill in the new movie that DC is preparing, ‘Superman: Legacy’ and which will be directed by James Gunn who is also the director of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, Marvel movie.

However, Superman will not be the only actor to debut as the love interest of ‘Man of Steel’, Lois Lane, who was previously played by Amy Adams, will now be played by actress Rachel Brosnahan.

According to what Gunn explained, this new version of the superhero will be a story that will originate from the workplace, in addition, the film director along with his fellow DC delegate, Peter Safran, commented on the details of the narrative of ‘Superman . Legacy’.

“It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing (…) He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way. It’s kindness in a world that thinks kindness is old-fashioned.”Said Safran.

David Corenswet became known for Ryan Murphy’s series ‘The Politician’, after which he had a participation in a Netflix series known as ‘Hollywood’.

Despite the fact that Corenswet is only 29 years old, Gunn has assured that this corresponds to his plans for a superhero with little experience wearing the cape, as well as the possibility that he will last at least a decade playing the mythical hero.

For her part, Rachel Brosnahan is a little better known than her costar since she has participated in the successful series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, a film piece with which she has so far managed to win an Emmy and two Golden Globe awards.

Regarding the choice of actors, James Gunn has commented that “Not only are they two incredible actors, but also wonderful people.”

In addition, the film director commented during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he identifies “Completely with Superman because that’s all I am.”

And explained that Superman actually “It’s someone who’s an outsider who feels like an alien, but also the ultimate knower, because he’s fucking Superman. And that’s kind of how he feels.”

The new Superman movie has a release date of July 11, 2025 and will be entirely directed by Gunn.

This comes months after British actor Henry Cavill announced that he would not play the Justice League superhero again.

Through his Instagram account, the artist expressed: “I just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news for everyone. After all, I won’t be coming back as Superman.”

“This news is not the easiest, but that’s life. The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and everyone involved with the new universe the best of luck and the happiest of fortunes.”said the actor.

The decision that surprised both the actor and his fans would have been a decision by Gunn, who minutes earlier confirmed that he will write a new “Superman” movie to focus on the superhero’s younger years.

Said announcement was made after his appearance in the post-credit scene of the recently released Black Adam, and which marked his return to the role since ”Justice League” in 2017.
