We all know the movies Rob Reiner…although many may not know him. Whether to laugh hysterically at the mockumentary This Is Spinal Tapget excited with Count on me (stand by me)fall in love with When Harry met Sally (When Harry Met Sally)terrify us with Misery or captivate us with Matter of honor (A Few Good Men), Reiner is without a doubt one of the most prolific directors in the history of cinema. Whatever approach the filmmaker wants to take, we know he won’t disappoint.
In any case, as sensational as all these titles are, there is a film which many consider to be an unparalleled film, a true cult film that has become more and more ingrained in the hearts of audiences. A classic that manages to encompass all the emotions mentioned in a single charming film.

Is about The Princess Bridealso known as The engaged princessthe undisputed masterpiece starring Robin Wright, Cary Elwes Y Mandy Patinkin. The film begins with a grandfather (peter falk) telling a story to his grandson, played by the then child fred savage a story before going to sleep. Starting with the love story between the Princess Buttercup (Wright) and the commoner Westley (Elwes), little Savage seems unreceptive to the story because of his romantic nature, but is quickly caught up in the adventure it spawns.
Westley disappears in search of a fortune to allow Buttercup to marry him, but is reported dead in a tragic pirate attack. This leads the princess to believe that his great love is lost, and is forced to marry Prince Humperdinck, heir to the throne of Florin. However, prior to her wedding day, the young and beautiful Robin Wright is kidnapped by a quirky trio, led by diminutive Sicilian genius Vizzini (Wallace Shawn), the Turkish wrestling giant Fezzik (Andre the Giant), and the expert Spanish swordsman Inigo Montoyaplayed by Patinkin.

The trio are hired by a mysterious masked man who wants to make believe that Princess Buttercup was murdered in order to start a war between Florin and her neighboring kingdom. The story unfolds surprisingly. presenting a unique and highly iconic story which serves as a charming postmodern fairy tale that makes the old damsel-in-distress troop feel fresh thanks to its comedy and romance.
Although almost 40 years have passed since its premiere, Reiner’s film still feels new, as do all the great movies in history. Maybe in its original premiere, The Princess Bride It may have been a moderate success at the box office (barely recovering its budget), but time has only aged it like a fine wine. Today, it’s the perfect dose of nostalgia that we all need.

With a captivating script, direction, and cast of unique characters portrayed to perfection by its talented cast, it’s easy to see why Reiner’s film has such an influence and esteem in the world of cinema. After all, what would become of him without an exemplary forbidden romance like that of Buttercup and Westley, or without the countless number of iconic phrases that the film has given us, mainly the famous “My Name is Íñigo Montoya. You Killed My Father, Prepare to Die”.
The Princess Bride It will always be the perfect movie to enjoy at any time, and luckily, it is available at Movistar Plus for users in Spain, and in Netflix for those in Latin America.
