The new “Scooby-Doo” film confirms that Vilma will be a lesbian

The New Universe Movie”Scooby Doo“, entitled trick-or-treating Scooby Doo!”confirms what was an open secret for fans of the saga: the character of Wilma Dinkley was conceived as a lesbian girl from the first productions in the early 1970s.

Vilma’s true sexuality, about which fans had wondered so much on social networks, was confirmed this Tuesday with the premiere of the new “Scooby-Doo” film on Prime Video, the Amazon company’s television platform.

Several scenes from the latest film in the franchise show the iconic young woman with glasses and bulging eyes in love with the character of Coco Diablo, a fashion designer with blonde hair and a slim figure.

The video fragments in which Vilma and Coco Diablo appear caused a stir on social networks, but in recent years Dinkley’s homosexuality had already been reported.

“In 2001, Wilma I was explicitly gay in my initial script, but the studio (Warner Bros. Pictures) kept overshadowing her and eventually even had a boyfriend (in the sequel),” James Gunn, screenwriter of the first non-animated films in the series, tweeted two years ago.

The producer and supervisor of the series “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated” (2010), Tony Cervone, also spoke about this, writing that Vilma “is not bisexual, she is homosexual” in a post on her Instagram profile during the Month of the year 2020 Pride.

“We always plan that Wilma act a little out of place when she was dating Shaggy because that relationship wasn’t right for her,” Cervone then explained, adding that he intended the character of Marcie Fleach, Velma’s friend and former rival, to be her true partner.

The last chapter of “Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated” aired on April 5, 2013 and this intimate relationship never took off but now, more than nine years later, fans of the franchise have officially confirmed that the young Wilma Dinkley is a lesbian.
