Founding figure of the association of Disney Y pixar, buzz lightyear returns to the center of the scene with “Lightyear”, currently in the cinema. That is why the team of artists behind the design of the protagonist’s looks in the new film knew that the starting point was, obviously, the costume recognized by the entire world from the “Toy Story” franchise. To keep Buzz’s instant recognition element as an icon, the team kept the color palette of the character and some physical features, such as his well-defined jaw. an iconic villain
In “Lightyear” there is a presence that fans will instantly recognize: zurg. The historical villain and eternal rival Buzz, appears in this new story with an imposing appearance and accompanied by an army of ruthless robots. Shrouded in shadow and mystery, Zurg’s mission is unclear, but he senses a great threat.
The Director Angus MacLane was one of the artists who worked on Zurg’s design in “Toy Story 2” and was excited to explore the character. “Of course, Zurg is the villain. We’ve known for a long time that he’s Buzz’s enemy, but we never really knew why,” comments the director.
In the movie, Zurg’s design it is based on the toy, but features a new modernized aesthetic. “We needed our Zurg to fit that new aesthetic that we developed to create a sci-fi world. Above all, Zurg had to be a danger. The design had to be intimidating in order to represent the threat and presence that our story demanded,” he says. The phrase that traveled the world
Who has not ever heard the iconic phrase “To infinity and beyond!”? The famous words were left immortalized by Buzz in 1995. Now in “Lightyear” its origin is revealed.
In the new movie who says it is the actress Uzo Adubawho lends his voice to the character of Alisha Hawthorne. “When we see Buzz Lightyear, the toy, say that line to Woody in that world, we think he’s talking about space, but when you see ‘Lightyear’ you realize he’s talking about connection.
