The director of Wandavision could direct the Fantastic 4

After the departure of Jon Watts, from The Fantastic 4, it seems that Kevin Feige has already found within Marvel Studios the director who will replace him

Matt Shakman, the veteran television director who debuted Marvel Studios on the small screen with Wandavision, is in talks to direct Fantastic Four, it has been learned. The Hollywood Reporter.

The director was introduced as a director on the long-running FX comedy hanged in philadelphia, before directing Game of Thrones. In July 2021, Paramount tapped him to direct the next Star Trek movie planned for next year, though it’s unclear if he’s still involved with the project.

If the signing of Matt Shakman for The Fantastic 4 is confirmed, he would have won the game over other names like Michael Matthews (Love and Monsters)and Reid Carolina (Dog: A Wild Ride).

fantastic four will kick off Phase 6, and the film is scheduled to be released on November 8, 2024. The cast is unknown at the moment, although there is hope that it will be featured at the next D23. And it remains to be confirmed if it will be John Krasinski, a fan favorite, who appeared as Reed Richards/Mr. fantastic in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, whoever interprets it from here on out. Since he played a variant, so the actor who brings him to life on Earth 616 could be different.

A long-awaited project by fans

Stan Lee and Jack Kirby introduced the team in the pages of Fantastic Four No. 1 in 1961. The comic reinvented the publisher, then known as Timely, and launched the Marvel Universe as a shared narrative canvas.

The Fantastic Four is a cornerstone of the Marvel mythos, but has never had a big screen adaptation accepted by the public. In the 1990s, Roger Corman produced a low-budget movie that was never released theatrically, though it did reach the domestic market, while 20th Century Fox released movies in 2005 and 2007 that featured Chris Evans, an actor who would become more late in the MCU’s Captain America. In 2015, Fox decided to reboot the franchise, hiring Josh Trank to direct after doing a great job for the studio with chronicleHowever, it turned out to be a disaster and plans to make more movies with them, and even cross them with the studio’s other successful franchise, the X-men, were shelved. A few years later, Disney acquired the rights to the superteam when the company bought 20th Century Fox.

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige first announced a new Fantastic Four movie in December 2020 during a Disney investment day, with Spider-Man director Jon Watts on the project. Feige said at this year’s San Diego Comic Con that it won’t be an origin story: “A lot of people know this origin story. Many people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before?”
