Director of Predator (1987), John McTiernanis one of the guests of honor at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival and on Sunday night he told why they had to flee in the middle of the night from Mexico while filming the movie starring arnold schwarzenegger.
McTiernan’s incredible anecdote focused on the actor’s unusual actions Sonny Landham, who played Billy in the film. “We had a bodyguard on the set in charge of protecting other people from Sonny. He is a very energetic guy and they will not believe what he did,” the director began his anecdote.
He continued: “Sonny’s room was on the top floor of a hotel by the beach in Puerto Vallarta. On the last night of filming, Sonny decided to come down from his room with a rope, without any clothes and with his underwear on. head. I swear I’m not making this up.”
“After throwing himself with the rope, he broke the window of the room of a 75-year-old tourist couple. After the incident, we had to get a plane in the middle of the night to flee Mexico and get Sonny out of there before he ended up in detention. McTiernan recalled with a laugh.
McTiernan told the hilarious anecdote before the screening of Duro de Matar that took place on Sunday night at the Mar del Plata Auditorium. He later added that Sonny Landham he only calmed down and completely changed his personality when interacting with members of original tribes because he wanted to look good with them during the filming of Predator.
Likewise, in a talk that he gave yesterday, the director of Duro de Matar reviewed his career and revealed which is the only film that he regrets not having filmed.
“The only movie I turned down that I regret not making is Brave Heart (braveheart). Mel Gibson didn’t ask me directly, but he did it through his agent. The writer was too cocky and I couldn’t stand it. Later I regretted it because Mel told me that he really wanted me to do it. I was so sorry I didn’t work on that movie,” McTiernan recalled.
