Tenoch Huerta, Namor in Marvel, accused of sexual assault

More problems for Marvel, since very worrying news has emerged about Tenoch Huerta who has played Namor.

The movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) introduced Namor to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a powerful comic book character who could be very important in the next UCM installments. They chose Tenoch Huerta to interpret it and now he has been accused of sexual assault by the saxophonist Maria Elena Rios.

It all started when Poder Prieto, a collective created by actors to change racist narratives and practices, published a podcast episode without the consent of María Elena Ríos and without remunerating her for her contribution. His criticisms were not limited to this isolated incident, however, as he also pointed out that the collective had experienced similar controversies in the past due to the lack of payment to other talent.

In addition, in a series of tweets, María Elena Ríos accused Poder Prieto of protecting and covering up the person she refers to as a “sexual predator.” She claimed that the collective had employed tactics to safeguard Tenoch Huerta’s image, including during the release of the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. According to her, the collective had actively sought silence from him during one of his concerts, in order to avoid any public relations issues while the film was in theaters.

There are similar accusations in the past towards the actor.

In addition, the saxophonist has interacted with some commentators on social networks, and in her responses she has hinted at the existence of more victims of Tenoch Huerta. Although she has not provided specific details at the time, she suggests that she will reveal more information in the future, possibly as more testimony from other alleged victims comes to light.

These accusations have generated quite a stir on social media and the community at large. María Elena Ríos’s courage in speaking out and pointing out those who might have covered up and protected an alleged sexual predator has sparked a broader conversation about sexual abuse and the importance of supporting victims.

It is important to note that the accusations made by Ríos are serious and must be properly investigated to determine their veracity. The Poder Prieto collective has not yet issued any official statement in response to these accusations.
