Tarantino insults Marvel and DC Comics movies

Famed director Quentin Tarantino has disparaged Marvel and DC Comics superhero movies, dismissing them with innuendo.

Quentin Tarantino has insulted Marvel and DC Comics movies. As he UCM As the DCU they have managed to recruit a large number of impressive filmmakers into their ranks. And although the director of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood has a clear love for comics, he recently recalled that he has not directed any films of those franchises, since he is not an “employee” to arrive and direct an installment of any of them.

Although several filmmakers from both franchises have expressed the freedom they feel in bringing the stories to life, the nature of the Marvel or DC Comics franchise means it has to fit into a certain formula and connect with other characters and points in time. Something that would apparently be an impediment for Tarantino. “You have to be a salaryman to do those things,” declared the director in Los Angeles Times. “I am not a salaryman. I’m not looking for a job.” A more than evident contempt not only for superhero movies, but for his companions.

Why did you want to make a ‘Star Trek’ in your day?

However, Tarantino isn’t entirely opposed to venturing into a massive property. Some time ago it was reported that was developing a movie for the Star Trek franchise, though the nature of that universe would allow for much more independence in what that story could explore from Marvel and DC Comics. In addition to the narrative, the director seemed to hope that the tone of his action film star trek could be different from the rest of the saga.

“I’ll say one thing about Star Trek that I’ve been waiting for someone to bring up,” Tarantino shared with Deadline about the project back in 2019. “I don’t know if I will or not. I have to find out, but Mark L. Smith wrote a really cool script. I like it a lot. There are some things I have to work on, but I liked it very, very much.”
