Premiere movies and series on Netflix, Movistar +, Amazon, Disney + from August 16 to 22

We started the third week of August already -in a summer that is flying by, just like the year-, and with good news, since it is the last day of the heat wave and the temperatures begin to subside a bit. And we also have 7 days ahead of the premieres of new series and movies.

Releases like The director, in which a Sandra Oh fresh out of Killing Eve – and lending her voice to Raya and the Last Dragon– should be in charge of chairing an English department at a major university. And also The losers, a procedural investigative set in 1946 Berlin, in which an American policeman searches for his missing brother while helping a rookie German agent combat the post-war crimes plaguing the city.

HBO does not bring any series of weight, but it does bring a whopping 17 films of different genres. And Movistar + brings us among others Wild, with a frightening and threatening Russell Crowe on the verge of nervous breakdown like half humanity is with the year and a half that we have already of Coronavirus.

And Amazon Prime Video brings the most important premiere of the week with Nine Perfect Strangers, a series that mixes mystery with a choral cast of bluebells with Nicole Kidman, Michael Shannon, Regina Hall, Luke Evans, Bobby Cannavale or Melissa McCarthy among others, and that deals with 9 strangers who do not know each other, each with Problems to solve, and they end up in the same place: a luxury resort called Tranquillim House, which will be anything but peaceful.

Besides ofto House of the Snail, pure mystery and Andalusian ‘folk horror’, with a writer who spends the summer in the mountains of Malaga in which he discovers a very disturbing legend. Y Cats, the musical by the Oscar-winning director of The King’s Discourse and Les Miserables that became the biggest cinematic hit of 2019, with devastating reviews that forced something unheard of: a rerun weeks after the premiere of a better quality CGI copy that they did not make more than compounding the disaster.
