Netflix’s new secret weapon turns against it: the platform angers its subscribers with a historical blunder that even Blockbuster has mocked

Netflix He has been considering betting on the production of live content for some time. His first experience with the comedy special ‘Chris Rock: Selective Outrage’ last March 4 had been a positive experience, but what was destined to become the platform’s new secret weapon has just made a fool of it. So much so that Even Blockbuster has published a message to make fun of Netflix.

“We’re so sorry”

The point is that Netflix had announced with hype and cymbal a live meeting of the protagonists of ‘Love is Blind 4’ that it was going to be able to be seen this past dawn from 2 in the morning, Spanish time. Everything seemed to be going smoothly, but at the last moment there was already talk of a small delay that later grew to the point that the platform decided to cancel its live broadcast and post the following message apologizing to his subscribers:

To everyone who stayed up late, woke up early, gave up your Sunday afternoon… We’re so sorry that the ‘Love is Blind Live Reunion’ didn’t go as planned. We are recording it now and will have it on Netflix as soon as humanly possible. Again, thank you and we’re sorry.

Several hours later, the company posted another message to clarify that the ‘Love is Blind’ special It will finally be available on Netflix starting at 9:00 p.m. (Spanish time) today. From the platform they have not wanted to give more details about what has caused this problem, but what is clear is that their image has been left on the ground.

For example, from Blockbuster they took the opportunity to comment if “Do you remember when you rented vhs from us? You could start it on time no problem… This is what we got“, alluding to the fact that in everything we have not exactly gotten better with what Netflix has brought us. Of course, the magic of the Internet was not long in coming with multitude of complaints and jokes about it by Twitter users.

What is clear is that what happened will bring consequences, perhaps in the form of layoffs, but above all in relation to the fact that for the next event like this it is better to be prepared, because it happens once is already serious, but more so because it could end up causing more harm than good to the platform. That, obviously, they chose one of their most popular reality shows for the occasion and it backfired on them. At least with the other big change in their business model that they recently announced, they don’t run the risk of screwing up like that.
