Mysterious videos from the early 1900s show two women apparently talking on cell phones

Now it is common to live glued to a mobile phone, but exactly a century ago that seemed unthinkable. Nevertheless, there are two videos in which it seems that two women are using them and they precisely date from 1928 and 1938.

The first of them is a fragment of the extra material of The circusthe movie of Charles Chaplin, discovered by Irish filmmaker George Clarke. In it you can see a lady with what appears to be a mobile phone in the ear talking while walking and corresponds to the premiere of the film at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood, in Los Angeles.

Clarke himself has described him as “a time traveler” and others have explained that he was carrying a 1924 Siemens company device to improve hearing. However, this does not seem to be true since the woman can be seen speaking through the device.

The other images are real and correspond to 1938. They show many women workers leaving a Dupont factory in Leomister, Massachusetts (United States) and one of them is possibly with a flip phone in her hands. The funny thing is that she, realizing that they are recording her, quickly hides the device.

About that recording, a youtuber He assured that it was a mobile phone because the protagonist is his family: “The lady you see is my grandmother, Gertrude Jones. She was 17 years old. When I asked him about this video, he clearly remembered it. My grandmother says that Dupont had a telephone communications section in their factory,” he said.

In addition, he added that “experiments were made with cordless phones”which made his grandmother and other women “have these devices for a week to carry out tests, and in the images he is talking to one of the scientists in possession of another mobile phone”.
