Who is a better killer Michael Myers or Chucky? Both characters have starred in great slasher classics and have recently returned to the screen and at SensaCine Latam we tell you which is the best option to spend the spooky season.
The month of October was full of great releases both in theaters and in streaming. The most anticipated were carried out by two of the most feared villains of the eighties. On the one hand, the fearsome Michael Myers returned to the town of Haddonfield to continue his killing spree and finally face Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) in Halloween Endswhile the Hackensack people were being terrorized by the deranged chucky in his new series Star Plus.
But let’s see who is the better killer? During one of our sections called Pitch Wars, the SensaCine Latam team met to discuss which title is best to celebrate the spooky season. On this occasion Michael Myers and Chucky were our special guests.
David Gordon Green’s new movie divided fans because not everyone was convinced by the outcome of the film, however anyone who has closely followed the saga of Halloween and have seen all other sequelsI could not ignore this title, since it is the closing of one of the most iconic slasher movies, although we are sure that this will not be the last.
Michael Myers appears in ‘The Bride of Chucky’ and you don’t remember.
On the other hand, the killer doll has starred in his own series in Star Plus, which recently premiered its second season. And let’s face it, Chucky has stopped scaring the audience because of the absurdity of watching a doll kill people, but Don Mancini has done an extraordinary job of adding touches of comedy, making the terrifying good gay become an entertaining character without leaving his sinister side that he loved so much in the eighties.
Likewise, the feared doll has been adapted to current situations where technology plays in its favour, because yes, Chucky rides Uber and knows how to use Facebook. As well as opening up the dialogue to current conversations like intolerance of the LGBT+ community, making the boogeyman seem very vintage. Wasn’t he even accused of being homophobic?
What makes Michael better than Chucky? It must be admitted that both characters have been exploited to the point of exhaustion, but along the way they have achieved a legion of fans from all generations. Each one has managed to frighten audiences in their own way without leaving aside the bloody deaths. In addition, their success was such that they were about to star in a movie together!
But we must say that The Shape it has a darker undertone, as it is a metaphor for evil and how society reacts to it, showing us that it only changes form and can be in any, while Chucky is only a contrast between good and evil, where the soul of Charles Lee Ray manipulates the rest to satisfy his thirst for revenge. So for this occasion he has defeated the assassin created by John Carpenter, he also has the most iconic Scream Queen, double prize, don’t you think?
Do you agree with our opinion? Halloween: The Final Night continues at Cinépolis and Cinemex, so you can still buy your tickets while Chucky just premiered its second season at Star Plus. Both are great options to spend this weekend.
