It will be longer than its predecessor. Avatar: the way of water (Avatar: The Way of Water) will become the second installment of the franchise created by james cameron more than a decade ago. Less than two months after its premiere, The Hollywood Reporter announced the length of the sequel: 190 minutes. Time beats the original film which, at its 2009 release, ran for a total of 162 minutes and, for its re-release this year, an extended 178-minute version was screened. As expected, the sequel will be one of the longest productions presented on the big screen.
Other famous titles that have had a long extension in cinematographic history are Avengers: Endgame (182 minutes) and titanica (194 minutes), the latter also directed by Cameron. With great expectations to continue the science fiction saga, the brilliant filmmaker will show the world once again the adventures of the Na’vi on the moon Pandora within a futuristic context.
Avatar: the way of water will focus again on Sully (Sam Worthington), a former human, and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), a native Na’vi. Ten years have passed since the conflict between humanity and the Na’vi people and both have formed a family in Pandora, a place where days of peace are lived until another threat comes to torment them in their fantastic paradise. The cast will also be made up of Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez, Kate WinsletStephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, and Laz Alonso.
It should be remembered that Walt Disney Studios took over the project after the entertainment company finalized the purchase of 20th Century Fox. The budget it obtained james cameron to make this sequel possible was 250 million dollars, a figure that allowed to pay for the production, the cast and the innovative technological alternatives to film motion captures.
The arrival of Avatar to theaters in 2009 was an unprecedented event for the Hollywood industry. It contained extremely wonderful images to place us in an exotic and rich environment that was very far from Earth; therefore, the humans saw in him a great potential to exploit.
