It is one of the best science fiction movies of the 21st century: a wild post-apocalyptic spectacle arrives on Amazon Prime Video

The trickle of movies continues Prime Video of movies of Warner that we all took for granted that we would never be able to see on any website that was not hbo max. This time she has been the great ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ which has appeared by surprise on the platform of amazon.

Why is it essential?

‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ was a film in which many things could go wrong, from the fact that it arrived more than 20 years after the previous installment of the saga, through the absence of Mel Gibson and without forgetting the troubled relationship that they kept Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron during filming. Nevertheless, George Miller managed to overcome all of them to bring forward one of the summits of both science fiction and action cinema so far in the 21st century.

Making use of a structure similar to the vertiginous ‘Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior’, Miller here played with the idea of a film in constant motion, to the point that the importance of the script takes a backseat. With this I do not mean at all that ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ is an empty work in that aspect, but it does show a measure of simplicity to make way for a thunderous visual spectacle with a force never seen before on the big screen.

From camera work to editing to soundtrack, everything adds up in the same direction to give shape to a exemplary blockbuster that has everything to make any viewer have a very entertaining time, but at the same time cares about giving a wild unity to the whole instead of being limited to being a concatenation of dazzling scenes.

This is also helped by the contribution of Hardy and Theron, with the latter little less than taking over the show with a mix of charisma and absolutely unforgettable physical performance. We will have to see if Anya Taylor-Joy manages to be on the same level ‘furious’but I doubt anyone would finish watching ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ without the idea that Theron could kick the ass of anyone who crossed her path.
