It is one of the best movies with time travel: a jewel of modern science fiction cinema arrives on Netflix

Netflix continues to add stimulating catalog titles and today it’s time to make a stop at a great science fiction movie that right now you only have available on this platform. I mean ‘Looper’the third feature film directed by Ryan Johnsonwho will soon premiere ‘Daggers in the back 2’.

Why is it worth getting back?

‘Looper’ is also one of the best time travel movies of the last few years, since it takes us to a future in which hitmen dodge the ban on killing other people by taking them back in time and killing them there. Things get even more complicated when one of those hit men receives a curious assignment: to kill his future self.

After an excellent first act focused on laying the foundations for this society of the future and introducing us to the main character played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Of course, Johnson never lets the conceptual prevail over the emotional, since the latter is the true narrative engine of the show, but he does so without making the mistake of turning it into a simple drama in which it coincides that there are trips in time.

The very convincing script by Johnson himself is vital for this, but also beware of the talent of his leading trio, as it was one of the last roles that knew how to channel the enormous charisma of Bruce Williswhile Emily Blunt He lives up to his two co-stars. In addition there are other satellite characters – watch out for the appearances of paul dano either Jeff Daniels– essential to round off the function with actors who fit like a glove in them.

If there is something that one can miss, that is to have a bigger budget, but Johnson manages to get around that limitation without causing a dip in interest. It is true that at a certain point everything becomes more contained, but it feels like a natural evolution of the story and we still have several more convincing action scenes than those of productions with a cost that easily triples that of ‘Looper’.
