“I guarantee you it’s not predictable.” James Cameron is convinced that the long-awaited ‘Avatar 2’ will surprise the public

The imminent revival of ‘Avatar’ in 4K is leading to that james cameron give several interviews. Some days ago commented that he faced Fox so as not to have to shorten the first installment and now he has had to refer to ‘Avatar 2’ to secure in IGN about what what counts in the long-awaited sequel is not predictable:

I guarantee you that you will not be able to predict it. The thing people hate most is going to a movie and saying ‘oh…predictable’. This is not predictable, I don’t think so. I challenge anyone to predict where this story is going.

Let’s remember that Cameron had directed two of the most acclaimed sequels of all time. The first was ‘Aliens, the return’a determining title to finish making him one of the most popular directors in Hollywood, while the second was ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’, a brutal contribution to action cinema that was also a milestone in the field of visual effects. To that we must add that ‘Avatar’ received several plagiarism accusations that the filmmaker himself did not hesitate to clarify.

Thus, the added pressure is especially strong. There will be viewers who do not hesitate to do everything possible to draw comparisons with titles outside the franchise, while the fact that it cannot be predictable is difficult to believe in a blockbuster of this caliber. In this regard, Cameron makes a clarification on the dramatic axis of ‘Avatar 2’ that does not sound bad at all:

We follow Jake and Neytiri forward in time, 15 years until they have a family of tweens and teens. A kind and family dynamic. It’s not a Hallmark or Disney-type family dynamic. It’s a very dysfunctional family dynamic, but in the end there is a core that everyone draws their strength from. I think that’s what is fundamentally different from the first.

Personally, what could surprise me the most is that Jake or Neytiri die in ‘Avatar 2’but I have my doubts that Cameron has opted for something so drastic with at least three more installments on the horizon…
