Heirs of Marylin Monroe defend Ana de Armas after criticism of her accent in ‘Blonde’

In fact, de Armas told The Times of London that he spent nearly a year working on Monroe’s accent for Blonde before filming began: “It took me nine months of training to get the accent right. It was very exhausting, my brain was fried.”

Directed and written by Andrew Dominik, Blonde will tell the story of the iconic actress, who joined the film industry in 1945 and quickly became one of the most prominent sex symbols of the seventh art. During the decade of the 40s and 50s, Marylin Monroe dazzled the public in her facets as an actress, singer and model, thanks to her smile, her seductive gaze and her sensual walk.

However, despite this facade of success, Monroe had to deal with a turbulent private life and mental health problems that led to her death from a barbiturate overdose in 1962, at just 36 years of age.
