The Ecuadorian Academy of Cinematography nominated the movie “Unseen”of Javier Andradeto represent the country as Best International Film at the Oscarsas well as Best Ibero-American Film at the Goya and for the Awards Macondo from Colombia.

“It’s an honor, it’s a pride” represent Ecuador in these contests and their nomination “gives it a new look” to this film, which has already received excellent reviews in Canada, France, Norway and Mexico, among other countries, commented Anahi Honeisenthe leading actress of the film that portrays the delicate labyrinth of depression.

“Lo Invisible” is a film “that is technically well made, that has a very delicate sound mix, a very careful image and in which all the cinematographic elements are very well treated”, added Honeisen who also wrote the script together with the director Javier Andrade.

However, he stressed that the film “above all has an acting perspective that makes no concessions; It’s not an easy movie challenge the viewerit is not complacent and that makes it a special film”.

The actress and professor knows that the road to the Oscars and the other contests will not be easy, since countless films from all over the world will be screened along the way, which also aims to achieve worldwide recognition that is granted in the final stretch.

The Ecuadorian film meets the standards and is ready to be screened, but participation in this contest goes beyond the product itself, since it is a set of activities that allow the film to be positioned among critics and academic specialists.

Even the States are the ones that must promote the promotion of films to overcome the different stages and try to reach the phases in which the prizes are already disputed, Honeisen recalled.

Much of the journey depends “Of the noise that can be made during the preselection”so that there are critics who pick up the film and comment on it.

It is in this space that Ecuador lacks experience, added the actress, who highlights the levels of promotion that Latin American countries such as Colombia, Chile and Mexico, among others, have achieved.

“I feel that we are missing”despite the fact that a few years ago important advances were made with the Institute of Cinematography and with Ibermedia, which fulfilled an outstanding management in favor of the national and regional seventh art, he added.

In this opportunity “You have to aspire to everything and you have to make the most of it”because it is “super important for all of us and for the country that this visibility can be had” in a showcase as important as the Oscars, the Goyas and the Macondo, Honeisen remarked.

“Unseen” is the story of Louise (Honeisen)a woman affected by a severe postpartum depression that prevents her from continuing with her role as mother and wife, and who decides to escape from routine, remaining invisible and absent from her family and from society.

Shot between 2017 and 2019, Andrade’s film crashed with the covid-19 pandemic in the first months of 2020, forcing him into rigorous confinement, although it also allowed him to better refine his character.

In the film, viewers watch the intense journey of a depressed woman and how she manages to get out of the dark place that fate has thrown at her to find your own path.
