Christian Bale on Leonardo DiCaprio: “Any role someone gets, it’s because he turned it down” – La Tercera

The actor Christian Bale pointed out that in the past he has lost roles in front of Leonardo DiCaprio. In a chat with GQ, the 2010 Oscar winner for fighterand star of movies like American Psycho and Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, marked the weight of the protagonist of titanica in the film industry.

“Look, to this day, whatever role someone gets, it’s just because they’ve passed it on beforehand,” Bale pointed out. “It doesn’t matter what others tell you. It doesn’t matter how friendly you are with the directors. All those people that I’ve worked with multiple times, they all offered him each of those roles first. One of those people told me that.”

Even the actor, considered one of the most talented of his generation, was grateful for the chance to get some roles thanks to the fact that the star of The Beach rejected them. Something that, he says, he does not take personally, despite the fact that he himself lost the leading role in titanica in front of DiCaprio.

“I mean, I can’t do what he does -he pointed-. I wouldn’t want the exposure he has either. And he does it superbly. But I suspect pretty much everyone in Hollywood of a similar age to him owes their careers to him, whatever the project.

“So thank you, Leo, because you can literally choose everything you do. And good for him, he’s phenomenal.”

This season, Christian Bale was on screen with three projects. He returned to the universe of superheroes with Thor: Love and Thunderbut it is also in The Pale Blue Eyes and the recently released Amsterdam, in which he shares a cast with stars such as Margot Robbie, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert de Niro, Chris Rock, Mike Myers, singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, among others. Wear the Batman suit again? He said a while ago that he would evaluate it only if it was directed by Nolan.
