Brendan Fraser apologized for a scene from George of the jungle filmed 25 years ago: “I was wrong”

brendan fraser achieved enormous fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s thanks to box office hits like the mummyay remained away from the cameras for several years until his applauded return with the film The Whale (The whale). For this reason, the actor is giving numerous interviews in which he is moved by this second opportunity that the public and the industry gave him. And in one of those talks, he surprised by apologizing for an episode that happened two and a half decades ago.

In 1997, Brendan was filming the movie george of the jungle (George of the Jungle), an adventure comedy based on the popular animated character. He was one of the first leading men that allowed him to build a name within the industry, although the memory of that success is associated with a confusing episode for which Fraser felt he should apologize.

In a note with SFGATE, a news portal focused on San Francisco activitiesthe actor recalled a traffic chaos that was caused by the film, and explained: “When we were doing George of the Jungle, in one scene George was going to rescue a parachutist who had been hanging from the Golden Gate Bridge. That required Disney to put a mannequin that simulated being the skydiver hanging from the bridge. And that caused traffic to get stuck on both sides of the bridge.”

Later, Brendan recalled the complex vehicular movement that originated from the filming of that scene, detailing: “My trailer was on the other side, in a parking lot. And I distinctly remember looking at the Golden Gate Bridge, and seeing that skydiving dummy placed there. And I turn on the TV, and Oprah’s broadcast is interrupted by a breaking news story, where a reporter from a helicopter is reporting that there’s a skydiver stuck on that bridge.. And from my place I saw those helicopters that were being shown on television and I realized that no one had requested the corresponding authorization to film, and that someone was going to have serious problems with the mayor’s office. So I can apologize for that.” And quite candidly, Fraser concluded: “So let it all be said: I was wrong there, and it’s not going to happen again.”

During the performance, viewers praised Fraser’s performance and gave her a seven-minute standing ovation. The actor thanked the applause, signed several autographs and did not hide his tears of emotion.

“You are going to see something you have never seen before,” he assured in a 2021 interview about The Whale. “That’s really all I can tell you. The wardrobe and changing room were gigantic, seamless, cumbersome. This is certainly a far cry from anything I’ve ever done, but I don’t want to be shy. I know it’s going to make a lasting impression, ”he anticipated shortly after finishing filming.
