‘Blonde’: viewers “disgusted” could not see more than 20 minutes of the film

Netflix finally premiered his controversial drama about Marilyn Monroe, Blonde, but some viewers have complained that the movie it is “unseeable”.

Many viewers commented on social networks that they had not been able to see more than 20 minutes of Blonde.

The movie rated for ages 18+, based on the homonymous novel by Joyce Carol Oatesis starring Anne of Arms like Monroe. It divided critics and there is particular scrutiny in the film’s harrowing portrayal of sexual trauma and assault.

In a one star review for The Independent, Jessie Thompson wrote: “’Blonde’ isn’t a bad movie because it’s demeaning, exploitative and misogynistic, even though it is all of those things. It’s bad because it’s boring, self-indulgent, and has no idea what it’s trying to say.”

Other viewers posted their opinions on Twitter and condemned the film’s flaws.

“Although the film is very well shot (most of the time) and Ana de Armas gives a luminous performance, it falls apart quickly… and that last hour… Jesus Christ, unwatchable. Complete movie headache,” one person wrote.

“Tried to watch @netflix’s ‘Blonde’,” another user commented. “I couldn’t stand more than 20 minutes of the nearly three hour run. Those 20 minutes were nothing but cruel and heartbreaking. It is impossible to see.”

“I started watching ‘Blonde’ and turned off [la TV] after 20 minutes that’s enough,” wrote a third, while someone else described it as “a hate letter to the icon that was Marilyn.”

“I started ‘Blonde’ and quit in record time,” one person revealed. “Graphically depicting rape on screen is in no way a meaningful way to portray the horrors of sexual assault. Please, I beg you to leave this woman alone and stop slapping sexual assault survivors and women.”

“’Blonde’ has to be one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen, I’m grossed out after seeing it, Marilyn deserves better,” another viewer wrote.
