One of the most anticipated films of the year was batman, the dark version of the DC character played by Robert Pattinson and directed by Matt Reeves. The film featured a large number of well-known Dark Knight characters, but one of the big surprises came at the end of the film, when it is revealed that another of the Arkham Asylum inmates is the jokerthe iconic Batman villain.
For months, and prior to the film’s release, there was strong speculation about the presence of the villain in Reeves’ film. At the time of the premiere it was known that the main antagonists were the Penguin, Catwoman and the Riddler. But for much of the film there was no trace of the Clown of the crime until the end.
Some time after the premiere of batmanthe director launched a deleted scene where you could see an interaction between Batman and the sinister jokerinterpreted by Barry Keoghan. During the sequence in question, we see that the masked hero goes to the serial killer in search of a clue to the Riddler, which suggests that Batman had captured Joker some time before.
Though Keoghan didn’t get much screen time joker, her acting and her terrifying appearance was memorable enough that I couldn’t forget it. The big surprise is that the Irish actor revealed that before being chosen to play Joker, he had auditioned for another character.
“I wanted to be the Riddler,” he said Keoghan in an interview with GQ magazine, while a video of his “audition” for that role went viral. The actor prepared the material after hearing that batman was in development by Warner Bros.
At the time he met producer Dylan Clark, the actor chosen to play the Riddler was Johan Hill, who later vacated the role of the villain to make way for Paul Dano. However, four months later, Keoghan received a call from his representative saying that the production of batman I wanted him for the role of joker.
Of course, his version of the villain did not go unnoticed and could be differentiated from all existing ones such as Heath Ledger, Jared Leto or joaquin phoenix. About the character in question he said that he is “a little bit charming and a little bit hurt”. It must be remembered that the face of the joker Keoghan is found all disfigured and covered in horrible scars.
“I wanted some kind of humanity behind the makeup. I want people to identify with it… [para saber] which is a facade that puts on. He is a broken child, “said the interpreter, who insisted that the people in the makeup department leave their eyes uncovered.
Although it is expected that Barry Keoghan be back for Batman 2, the actor assures that he has not yet had news about the sequel. “As soon as that call comes in. I’m there, man, I’m there,” he said.
There is no doubt that the fans were left with the expectation of being able to see more of the villain on the screen. Especially since the saw version of the joker in her brief appearance she is not the one we know from the comics. Let’s hope he has the confrontation with Batman what he deserves
