American Born Chinese: Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan’s new series after their Oscars

Following the massive success of Everything Everywhere All at Once, Oscar winners Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan have a bright future ahead of them, and now they’re reuniting in a series with a mostly Asian cast for a la new Disney+ fantasy series.

There’s nothing like a reunion between legendary actors, except when you throw them back into a multiverse. Disney+ threw the first official trailer of his next series called American Born Chinese [Americano Nacido Chino]featuring the stars of Everything Everywhere All at Once, Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quanback in action fighting against the darkest powers of this world and the hereafter.

With him star power recently awarded, Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quanthe show also puts together a roster of up-and-coming actors with Ben Wang and the Taekwondo champion jimmy liu playing two teenagers tasked with saving the world. The trailer introduces us to Jin Wang (Wang), a Chinese-American teenager who struggles to celebrate his family’s heritage while adjusting to his high school peers.

After being tasked with showing a new Chinese student (Liu) the ropes, Jin thinks his social life is officially taking a nosedive. But, when he reveals himself to be a being beyond this Earth, sent on a mission to save life as we know it, Jin embarks on the adventure of a lifetime, jumping dimensions and facing off against mythological Chinese gods. The program American Born Chinese will fit right in with the other youth-focused content on Disney+.

Of course, there will also be plenty of material for adult fantasy lovers, with a cast led by two stars such as Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan. Based on Gene Luen Yang’s graphic novel of the same name, there’s no one who can’t relate to the awkward and angst-filled teenage years of wanting to fit in.. The story of American Born Chinese it just shakes things up with larger than life action, with scenes filled to the brim with masterfully rendered Kung-Fu.

Next to Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan Also starring in the series are Yeo Yann Yann, Chin Han, Sydney Taylor, and Daniel Wu. Emmy Award-winning writer-producer Kelvin Yu serves as executive producer and showrunner for American Born Chinese. Destin Daniel Cretton will direct and executive produce alongside Melvin Mar, Jake Kasdan, Erin O’Malley, Asher Goldstein and Gene Luen Yang. The series will begin airing on Disney+ on May 24, 2023.
