WhatsApp launches the possibility of finding a business directly in the application

This Thursday, at the first WhatsApp Business Summit in Brazil, mark zuckerberg shared an update on what’s being built to help people find, message, and buy businesses from WhatsApp.

People say all the time that they want an easy way to not only find businesses, but also get in touch with them through WhatsApp. This is for getting help quickly without having to look up a phone number, email a support address, or navigate a complicated website.

And although many companies already promote their own number of WhatsApp on packaging materials, store signs, and websites, they often ask for a better way to help make more people aware of this channel.

For this reason, the possibility of finding a business directly in WhatsApp is being launched, so that people can search for companies by category, such as travel or banks, or search by the name of the business.

This will save users from having to look up phone numbers on company websites or key in a number in their contacts. For now, to begin with, this feature will be brought to Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, Colombia and the United Kingdom. In Brazil, users will also be able to browse categories of small businesses in their neighborhood.

Once a person finds a business they want to chat with, they can ask questions about products, browse their catalog of goods and services, and add items to a cart to let the business know what they want to buy.

From there, it is sought that users can make a secure payment directly from the chat with their credit or debit card. This easy checkout experience will be a game changer for individuals and businesses who want to buy and sell on WhatsApp without having to go to a website, open another app, or pay in person.

Comments from Mark Zuckerberg

“Wherever you go in the world, people are fans of WhatsApp, but that’s especially true in Brazil. The creativity there is really inspiring. It’s one of the only countries where I’ve heard of people opening bank accounts, buying cars and order dinner, all through WhatsApp,” said Mark.

He added that “we want to make it easier for people to do more on WhatsApp. Part of that is creating better ways to engage with businesses. And while millions of companies in Brazil use it to chat, we haven’t made it easy for businesses to be discovered or can buy from them, so people end up having to use workarounds.

“The ultimate goal is to make it possible to find businesses, message them and buy from them in the same WhatsApp chat,” Zuckerberg said.

“So, starting today, people can search for a brand or small business directly on WhatsApp, either by browsing a list of categories or by typing the name. We’re making this possible by expanding our directory feature to all of Brazil and taking it in addition to large companies that use our WhatsApp Business platform here in Brazil and also in some other countries,” said the owner of Meta.
