Sebastián Piñera’s photo album at a summer camp for billionaires from the Tech industry

In Blaine County, Idaho, United States, is the Sun Valley Lodge, a luxury resort that is ideal for skiing in winter.

But the place is actually known because every year, from 1983 onwards, a supposedly secret meeting is held in which billionaires, politicians and media owners meet, highly influential people who discuss confidentially for five days about issues concerning the economy, politics and technology. All this, in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

If you are a regular to the Succession series, you will remember Argestes, the sixth episode of the second season. An informal meeting of billionaires in which the Roy family takes advantage of precipitating an economic agreement with another family, the Pierces. Before arriving, the private plane of Logan’s company, the circumspect Roy patriarch, had to circle around waiting for his turn to land, a situation that undermined the impatience and ego of the owner of the Waystar Royco group. All of that, including the wait to park, is inspired, precisely, by the Sun Valley gatherings.

This year’s event, the 38th version of this meeting, took place last week, and brought together people like the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos; Apple CEO, Tim Cook. Mark Zuckerberg, de Meta, and a lot of other very influential people.

How do we know all that? Because among that handful of celebrities whose assets are well equivalent to the gross domestic product of several countries, there was also Sebastián Piñera.

And the former president of Chile took the opportunity to photograph himself with several of them and upload it to his Instagram account.

The president posted a series of images in which he appears with mark zuckerberg, Bill Gates, sundar pichai, of Google; Jeff Bezos or Sam Altman, creator of ChatGPT. And, in addition, with the Argentine Marcos Galperin, founder of Mercado Libre. And all this, to announce that you already have an account on the Threads social network.

“My favorite is the last (photo),” he says playfully, referring to an image in which he appears with his wife, Cecilia Morel.

Fly fishing

His first post on Threads was precisely a thread in which he refers to this multi-million dollar retirement. “How are they? I am excited to tell you that I have just returned from an inspiring meeting in Sun Valley with some of the greatest creators, innovators and discoverers who have changed our lives so much”.

Those attending the event, apart from sitting at round tables and discussing politics, economy, technology, etc., take the opportunity to do other activities, such as long walks or fly fishing.
