The event was part of the “Goalkeepers” initiative, promoted by that foundation so that world leaders accelerate the achievement of sustainable development goals of United Nations.

Sánchez stressed that, before the economic and social consequences of the pandemic coronavirus and of the war in ukrainegovernments have to act without forgetting that we must continue working to meet the sustainable development goals.

In this context, he defended the resilience fund created in the International Monetary Fund and that 20% of the special drawing rights go to this mechanism, adding that Spain has been the first country to confirm its contribution the same.

“When faced with a problem, we are in a position to take tangible, concrete measures, to help people on the ground. We have to keep moving forward and we have to keep doing so guided by the sustainable development goals,” he stressed.

In the debate with the rest of the participants, Sánchez placed special emphasis on the need to become actively involved in the fight against climate change and to make the green transition inclusive.
