A host of messages sent by Elon Musk to Jack Dorsey ahead of the upcoming trial between Twitter Inc. (NYSE:) and the CEO of Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:NASDAQ:).

What you should know Twitter founder Jack Dorsey told Musk in messages that he stepped down as the social network’s CEO because “a new platform was needed.”

“It cannot be a company. I think it should be an open source protocol, funded by some kind of foundation that doesn’t own the protocol, it just promotes it,” he said.

“If you have a centralized entity behind you, you will be attacked,” Dorsey added. “This is not a complicated job, it just has to be done well to be resilient to what happened to Twitter.” To which Musk responded by saying, “Super interesting idea.”

Dorsey told Musk via messages that he would leave Twitter’s board in May and then “work and fix the bugs,” adding that turning Twitter into a company was “the original sin.” Musk, in response, stated: “I would like to help if [yo] Can I”.

Why It Matters Dorsey told Musk that when activist investors came in, he tried his best to get Musk on the Twitter board, but the board said “no.”

The former Twitter CEO told the billionaire that Twitter’s board of directors was “super risk averse” and considered bringing in Musk a “major risk.”

Dorsey added that he thought this was “completely stupid and contrary”. Likewise, she told Musk that he only had one vote and 3% of the company and that he did not have dual class shares: it was a “difficult organization”.

Both Musk and Dorsey agreed that doing something “decentralized” was the best option.

Dorsey tweeted a Radiohead song titled “Everything in Its Right Place” after news of Musk’s acquisition of Twitter broke in April.

Jack Dorsey was called to testify in the Twitter lawsuit that came after Musk said he would not go ahead with the purchase of the platform.

The Price Movement According to data from Benzinga Pro, shares of Twitter closed down 1.18% at $42.74 on Thursday.
