First it was DALL-E and IMAGE, then MidJourney and now Meta joins the latest digital trend: programs capable of creating images from text entered by the user. A few days ago Mark Zuckerberg’s company announced Make-A-Scene a tool similar to the previous ones, but that will not only help creators to generate digital art, but will also contribute to the creation of the metaverse.

What makes the Meta tool different from the others is that it allows the user to supplement their sentences with an outline of what they want the tool to create. On the Meta blog dedicated to artificial intelligenceexplains: “It is not enough for an AI system to just generate content. To realize the potential of AI to drive creative expression, people must be able to shape and control the content that a system generates. It must be intuitive and easy to use so people can take advantage of the modes of expression that work best for them, whether it’s voice, text, gestures, eye movements, or even sketches, to bring their vision to life in whatever medium works best for them, including audio , images, animations, video and 3D. Imagine creating beautiful impressionist paintings in compositions you imagine without having to pick up a brush. Or instantly generating illustrations imaginative of books of tales to accompany the words.
The idea of Meta and Make-A-Scene is to give more and more creative control to the user so that the images are less random and more the result of the collaboration between the process of a machine and the sensitivity of a human being.
Just like the other tools, Make-A-Scene learns the relationship between words and images by crossing the data contained in millions of records and creating impressive designs in a matter of seconds. So far the tool has been tested by professional artists and designers including sophia crespoScott Eaton, Refik Andol, and Alexander Reben; Meta’s goal is that it may soon become a tool capable of helping anyone express themselves.
