Joe Biden said on Wednesday that Elon Musk’s “relationships with other countries are worth looking at.” This was the response of the US president when asked by a journalist if the richest man in the world represented a national threat.

“Whether he’s doing something inappropriate or not, I’m not suggesting that, I’m suggesting that it’s worth looking at. And that’s all I’ll say,” the Democratic president said Wednesday at the White House during a press conference on the results of the midterm elections.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and the new owner of Twitter, is carrying out important business deals with China, the main rival and competitor of the United States.

Also, Biden was open to investigating Saudi Arabia’s involvement in Musk’s Twitter purchase operationafter which the billionaire Saudi prince Al Waleed bin Talal became its second largest shareholder.

On October 29, the Saudi prince said he transferred ownership of the existing 34,948,975 shares he held in Twitter, valued at $1.89 billion, to the “new Twitter,” making Al Waleed the second largest shareholder after Musk.

Dear friend Chief Twit, Elon Musk, together all the way”, Al Waleed said on his account on the social network, shortly after Musk himself announced his acquisition of the company.

In April, the Saudi had rejected the offer of Musk, also CEO of Tesla, of 43,000 million dollars to buy the social network.

“I don’t think Elon Musk’s proposed offer ($54.20 per share) comes close to the intrinsic value of Twitter, given its growth prospects,” the prince said then.

On the other hand, Musk asked for the vote for the Republican Party in the legislative elections on Monday which were held on Tuesday in the United States.

Musk, who has a large community of loyal fans and admirers, jumped right into the US election campaign with a message aimed at “independent voters.”

“Power sharing curbs the worst excesses of both parties, which is why I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic,” Musk said on Twitter, where he has nearly 115 million followers.

The businessman, now the sole owner of this social network, stressed that convinced Democrats and Republicans never vote for the other side, so “independent voters are the ones who really decide who is in charge.”

Openly asking for the vote for a party is a very unusual move for a person at the head of one of the big social networks, who, due to their strong influence on public debate, normally prefer to stay on the sidelines.
