Elon Musk’s little bird backs down with payment for verification on Twitter after the chaos of ‘fake’ accounts

This Wednesday came to Twitter payment to verify user accounts, but its duration has not been as expected. After announcing that the payment verification was already in force, the rush caused the appropriate filters to not be established for it, which has caused a little chaos in the social network, which does not leave a headline to star in another from the arrival at the address of Elon Musk.

The lack of requirements to be able to access the blue verification, after paying $7.99 per monthcaused many users to create fake accounts posing as celebrities. As has been the case of Lebron James, who asked for the departure of the Los Angeles Lakers or the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly, who announced on her account that insulin would become free. However, both have something in common, it was not the official accountdespite having the blue button.

The platform has not made any statement in this regard and it is still not known until when this option will be disabled, although they did notify on their website that those accounts created after November 9, the moment in which the payment for the verification, will not be able to subscribe to Twitter Blue now. Therefore, Twitter users in the United States will not be able to access it until what happened is fixed.

Blue and gray check

After this chaos of verifications, Esther Crawford, Twitter’s product executive, explained the difference between verified blue and gray. The first is that of payment and the second highlights the official status of the account. That is, it is a brand dedicated to “government accounts, companies, business partners, major media outlets, publishers and some public figures”, but Elon Musk decided to suppress the media and personalities in less than 24 hours.
