Elon Musk wants his humanoid robot to be cheaper than a car and to perform any household chore and even take care of the elderly

Musk wants you to give his humanoid robot to your parents in less than a decade.

Although at present we already have thousands of examples of robots that are helping us with different tasks, for example in assembly lines or to help us cook more efficiently, the truth is that if we look back and think of robots, we always imagine humanoid robots like those seen in science fiction movies that can coexist with us and that are even capable of performing any household chore.

And it is not about any fantasy or any utopia, because nevertheless there are companies like Xiaomi that they have already presented their own humanoid robotbut perhaps the most anticipated is the one that Tesla is preparing in the form of Optimus and that it would not only be designed for repetitive tasks in factories, but to be installed in any home in the world to help us with daily tasks but also to care for those who need it most, such as the elderly.

And recently Elon Musk has published a column in the official publication of the Cyberspace Administration of China, seen on Electrekunder an article called “believe in technology for a better future” and in which he dedicates a few paragraphs to Optimus, this humanoid robot project from which something tangible is expected for this year.

In the article he emphasizes that he intends that his humanoid robot is close in height and weight to an adult so that it can adapt to the environment and can do what it hashumans are created, because “it is essential that they have the same size, shape and capabilities”.

He comments that the first versions we see of the Tesla robot will be directed “to replace people in repetitive, boring and dangerous tasks in their jobs” but that the final vision, once production costs come down, May robots reach billions of homes around the world and that they can carry out daily activities “such as cooking, mowing the lawn, or caring for the elderly”.

Basically to get to the latter they need these robots to be mass produced and smart enough.

They intend to launch the first prototype of this humanoid robot this year, and from there they will focus on the objectives of “improve its artificial intelligence and solve the problem of large-scale production”. They intend to increase the production and utility of these humanoid robots year after year as costs fall.

Tesla’s intention is that these humanoid robots can be cheaper than a carand in less than a decade they want people to be able to buy a humanoid robot for their parents as a birthday present.
