The calm in the private and business life of Elon Musk It is a thing of the past for a long time. There is practically no week in which a story does not appear that marks some relative degree of intrusion.
From the matter of his romantic relationship with Grimes even the mess he lives with his firstborn with the whole issue of his change of last name and gender.
But among all this, perhaps one of the most delicate issues, because it involves tons of money at stake, is everything related to his automotive company Tesla Motors. A business that has been the object of obsession for many.
The company is at a delicate point, where it already has several years of delays with different vehicle models, which has many of its consumers and devotees a little uneasy.
At the same time, its competitors have made huge leaps with their technology that could put the leadership of Musk and his company in the electric car sector at risk.
For this reason, for years Musk has perfected his internal security measures in the company to avoid leaks and now we know how he solved one of his most complicated recent episodes.
Elon Musk found an insider at Tesla with a simple trick
In 2008 Tesla Motors began to be the victim of a series of delicate internal leaks with information, data, details and reports that invariably came from inside the company.
This matter started almost anecdotally but little by little it became more serious. So Musk would have gone into action to find the informer. All this we assumed everything when the leaks stopped abruptly.
Now we discover, thanks to a question from a user of Twitter who contacted Musk directly to question him about the matter, how everything was actually resolved, using a simple trick to track down who leaked everything:
That is quite an interesting story. We felt what appeared to be identical emails to all, but each was actually coded with either one or two spaces between sentences, forming a binary signature that identified the leaker.

Basically Musk would have used the classic canary trap tactic. Where, for this case, they wrote a series of internal email messages for employees with identical wording in content but slightly different from each other in wording.
Additional spaces between phrases or words were integrated to create a “binary signature” that allowed to identify exactly to which sender that message had been sent.
So when the text was replicated exactly in another leak, it was possible to find the employee who was revealing Tesla’s secrets.
No legal action was taken against this individual, but he was immediately fired.
