Bill Gates Assures That Deaths From Covid-19 Could Have Been Avoided

Bill Gates, the creator of Microsoft, has been one of the technological leaders who has had the greatest interest in the health sector, even more so after the arrival of the new coronavirus.

From the beginning, the businessman was very active on his social networks to talk about the virus and invite people to get vaccinated. Activism that caused him to be involved in various conspiracy theories.

Now, after the publication of his book ‘How to avoid the next pandemic’, Bill Gates shared an article in which he highlights that the millions of deaths from coronavirus in the world could have been avoided.

“If we had stopped the COVID pandemic in less than 100 days, we could have saved more than 98% of the lives lost“, the philanthropist wrote on his Twitter account.

According to Gates, better decision-making would have been decisive in stopping the advance of the pandemic and preventing the suffering of many people.

“The world did not prioritize global health until it was too late and the result has been catastrophic… Although we are finally getting to the light at the end of the tunnel, Covid still kills several thousand people every day.”

In that sense, it states that humanity is still in time to prevent the current epidemiological situation from worsening or from the arrival of a new, more deadly pandemic.

According to the text written by the fourth richest man in the world, nobody wants a health crisis like the one caused by Sars-CoV-2 to be repeated, but to prevent a similar scenario, we will have to be prepared now. This requires a greater commitment from world leaders with public health and science.

Outbreaks are inevitable, but pandemics are optional

Bill Gates explains that the ideal is to contain the outbreak of a virus in the first 100 days after its appearance. How? with the help of a global database that governments, scientists and innovators have access to, in order to identify outbreaks, analyze the severity of the situation, take action and work on the study and production of tests, treatments and vaccines.
