Even though the rumor has circulated for yearsa report by Mark Gurman for Bloomberg indicates that the technology company will dedicate 2023 to the launch of the device that has been in development for seven years.

According to the journalist, Apple planned to present the device in January to start selling it in the first months of the year, but the plan has changed and the new goal to present it is Worldwide Developers Conference 2023 (WWC23, Annual Developers Conference) to be held in June.

Apple has already given a preview version of the device to a limited number of high-profile programmers to start developing apps for the operating system that bears the Borealis name within the company (the final name of the operating system is said to be will be xrOS).

According to Gurman, various Apple departments have contributed resources to the development of the immersive viewer, so no major additional releases are expected from the company in 2023 and all its energy is in finishing adjusting the immersive mixed reality viewer.

What can we expect from Apple’s immersive mixed reality headset?

In May 2022, various journalists reported that the visor prototype had already been tested by the company’s board of directors. As far as we know it is a high-end device with an 8K display, eye movement recording and multiple cameras to capture what is happening in the real worldhe.

In October of last year Tim CookApple CEO expressed doubts about the conception of the metaverse of Meta and Mark Zuckerberg and made it clear that his vision is more focused on mixed reality (that is, augmented reality [AR] and virtual reality [VR]), where virtual elements and real objects interact and merge before the user’s gaze. At the time Cook explained: “Augmented reality apps are already on the App Store, but the possibilities will go much, much further. I think AR technology is profound and will affect everything. Imagine suddenly being able to teach with AR and demonstrate things that way. Or medically, etc. Like I said, we’re really going to look back and think about how we ever lived without AR.”
