What is the best of James Bond with Daniel Craig? – Movie Review

Daniel Craig has just said goodbye to the James Bond franchise after having played agent 007 for five films, from 2006 to 2021. Definitely muscular and ambivalent in his relationship to feelings, this James Bond will have marked the history of cinema . Craig was not unanimous, some criticizing his lack of finesse specific to the character, when other fans of this sage adored him. The mark of the big ones?

Still, at the rate of these many hours of films, Craig left his mark on the name of James Bond. The five films will however have followed the logical course of the initial adventures of Ian Fleming, Bond confronting for example The Number or Blofeld. In a purely critical and subjective way, what is the best James Bond with Daniel Craig? Warning, the following lines may contain some spoilers…

Sky Fall

It is likely that in 25 years, Sky Fall is still one of the films still acclaimed to talk about the legacy left by James Bond. While production is at a turning point never observed in the past, Sky Fall probably stay the greatest moment of the last years.

Everything is there in this 2012 film, over 2 hours and 20 minutes long! Javier Bardem brilliantly plays the role of the villain when Daniel Craig continues to hint at feelings, something rare in history. The success is complete with Sky Fall, but the logic is respected: exceptional soundtrack, grandiose and dramatic scenario if we stick to the departure of Judi Dench in the role of M, the director of MI6 and therefore, of James Bond.

In Sky Fall, Daniel Craig assumes his rank and offers an opus that many admirers of the series blithely rank as one of the best.

Casino Royale

What an entrance! If Pierce Brosnan had met a sad end with the costume of 007 (deemed too old by the producers) despite four appreciable films as a whole, the saga needed a boost and for the decision-makers, a facelift!

From the first scenes of the film, James Bond passes into another dimension and immediately makes the public understand that a new era has been launched. Casino Royale is the first Bond with Craig, but certainly one of the best. the screenplay is immense, propelled by the dramatic idyll with Vesper Lynd and already, made of torments and betrayals.

We logically retain the immense and grandiose game of poker animating most of the film with different protagonists, including Le Cipher, Bond’s enemy. The outcome of this duel on the table is also legendary, with Bond proving better than anyone that he continued to master all poker combinationslike what he has demonstrated since the first opuses, in the 1960s.

Dying can wait

Farewells in fireworks. It is a whole new facet of Bond and therefore, of Daniel Craig, which is offered to lovers of the franchise in this latest opus. The return to the past of James Bond is one-can-not-more put forward and offers an end in apotheosis. And this, in a form that would have been complex to envisage 15 years earlier…

Spectrum

Spectrum is not a bad James Bond, far from it. We find all the paraphernalia and all the subtleties that we are looking for in a film of the saga.

If we had to look for a defect in Spectrum released in 2015, the critic Jérôme Vermelin seemed at the time, the fairest on this subject. Indeed, Spectre’s only fault is perhaps to have followed the immense Sky Fall.

Quantum of Solace

It was not Daniel Craig who was the main culprit in the failure of Quantum of Solace, second film played by the English actor. A strike of certain technical teams and the daring choices of the directors on the tracking shots will have disturbed the film, despite it being made up of an exciting and up-to-date scenario.
