Since 2018, fans of comic book adaptations can follow the adventures of Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock / Venom. After the 850 million dollars raised by the film, Venom obviously returned for a sequel. Two films decried by critics but sufficiently supported by the general public for a third part to be in the cards. A Venom 3 which will, it seems, be with an MCU star.
An MCU star in Venom 3?
With Venom And Venom: Let There be Carnage, the second film, the franchise has grossed no less than $1.36 billion at the box office. A sufficiently satisfactory result for Sony to validate the production of a third opus. A Venom 3 directed by Kelly Marcel, screenwriter of the first two films, who will also take care of the screenplay for this new part of the adventures of Eddie Brock. A project still veiled in mysteries which should be released in 2024.
Naturally, Tom Hardy will be back on screen. But the British actor will not be alone. Several weeks ago now, it was actress Juno Temple, known in particular for the role of Keeley Jones in the series Ted Lasso who was announced to join the cast of this Venom 3. Obviously, as production continues, the announcements fuse. And now Deadline is able to announce that actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mordo in Doctor Strange and more generally, the MCU, will also be in the cast of the film.
Contacted by the American media, Sony declined to comment on the matter. Of course, the role played by Ejiofor is still kept secret. Brock’s ally or enemy? Nothing is less certain, speculation is rife. Nevertheless, it is good news that Chiwetel Ejiofor is in the cast of this Venom 3. After being nominated for an Oscar for his role in 12 Years a SlaveChiwetel Ejiofor faced Doctor Strange in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madnessafter having his apprentice a few years before in Doctor Strange.
An actor who is no stranger to the world of comics thanks to his appearances in the MCU. It could therefore bring more credibility to the universe that Sony is trying to create, but which is struggling to convince fans of the genre. And more recently, he appeared alongside Emilia Clarke in The Pod Generation, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. It remains to be seen whether this Venom 3 will convince fans of superhero movies enough for the franchise to get back on track.
Until then, Sony must restore the image of Spider-Verse with Kraven the Hunter, El Muerto, Madame Web And Spider Woman. Four films to save Sony’s cinematic universe, hope the quality is there. Response over the next few months.
We would love to give thanks to the writer of this post for this outstanding material
