True Lies: Behind the Scenes of the Helicopter Rescue Scene

Jamie Lee Curtis celebrated Friday the 28th anniversary of the film of james cameron by sharing a photo of her swinging out of a helicopter to pull off one of the action movie’s most daring stunts. On her Facebook page, the actress explains that if her understudy Donna Keegan made possible the rescue scene, when Helen is pulled by Harry off the roof of the limo, instead she was actually suspended from the helicopter. Jamie Lee Curtis entrusts :

As I will never write a book and today is the 28th anniversary of the release of TRUE LIES, I thought I would share this photo. It was three days before my 35th birthday. We were doing the sequence where Helen is in the limo driving away and Harry is flying over her in the helicopter. I obviously did a lot of it on the road, but my understudy, Donna Keegan, did the same. The stunt itself was of course one of the most spectacular ever and all credit goes to Donna, but we needed a shot of me after being pulled out of the limo above the wreckage on fire. To get this photo we had to strap myself to the helicopter at base camp and then fly for 20 minutes above the water to reach the 7 mile bridge where the wreckage was destroyed. In the photo, we see Joel Kramer who doubled Arnold on the set and it is James Cameron who comes out of the passenger seat with the camera. Chuck Tamburo was the pilot and the only requirement I had for the footage was that someone have wire cutters in the helicopter in case they had to land over water so I could be separated from them. Saw manatees, it was late afternoon and it was a glorious trip down a wire, all thanks to James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
