Tom Cruise: Why Was He Implicated In The Deaths Of Two Men?

The filming of Barry Seals: American Traffic ended in tragedy. Worn by Tom Cruise and directed by Doug Liman, this feature film tells the story of an airplane pilot who will become a drug trafficker for the Medellin cartel, led by Pablo Escobar but who also works at the same time for the CIA and the DEA. On September 11, 2015, a terrible accident took place on the set of this film based on a true story. Indeed, two airplane pilots died during a violent crash during which one of the producers also lost the use of his legs. The families of the victims decided to take the case to court and accused Tom Cruise of being partly responsible for their deaths.

According to People, the court documents indicate that it is in particular because of the actor and the director of this film that this dramatic accident could have occurred. It is indeed they who would have decided to shoot a “high-risk, action-packed movie”thus endangering the lives of the two pilots. “The requests for filming in Colombia, along with Tom Cruise and Doug Liman’s enthusiasm for multiple takes of wide flight sequences, added hours to each day of filming and added days to the schedule”wrote the families of the victims. Very eager to complete the filming of this feature film, the producers would have taken security measures lightlyaccording to them.

Tom Cruise: did the actor defend himself?

“Problems of planning, coordination […] resulted in the commissioning of an unqualified and unprepared pilot for a dangerous flight in an old plane which had to pass between unknown mountains in bad weather”, is it also written. After the filing of this complaint, a producer came out of silence. “Director Doug Liman and Tom Cruise add whole scenes during the flight. I had to bring in Uni Safety to get them under control. The last 48 hours has been the craziest shit I’ve ever had to deal with“, he told the court. Almost five years later after being implicated for the death of these two men, Tom Cruise has never spoken about it.
