The biography and career of Tobey Maguire

Tobias Vincent Maguire, known as Tobey, was born in Santa Monica, California on June 27, 1975. His father Vincent, of Irish, Danish and French descent, was a construction worker and cook, while his mother, Wendy Brown, of French descent, worked in the construction industry and of English descent from secretary to screenwriter and film producer. When Tobey was only two years old his parents separated so he spent his childhood moving from town to town and living alternately with one of his parents. Until High School Tobey intended to pursue a career as a cook like his father, but his mother promised him a hundred dollars if he just found a job and enrolled in a comedy class, which he therefore accepted.

His film career began in 1989 when he got the first role in the film Videokid: The brilliant child. During the early years he was involved in the creation of numerous commercials and supporting roles in various films, where he often played a character younger than his own age. The role that made him famous around the world was, however, is the role of Peter Parker aka Spider-Man in the film Spider-Man directed by Sam Raimi in 2002. Maguire also reprized the role in the released sequels. in 2004 and 2007. In the year 2009 he starred alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman in the film Brothers and his portrayal earned him the first Golden Globe nomination. And in 2013 Tobey Maguire stars in the movie The Great Gatsby with the famous actor and his good friend, Leonardo DiCaprio.
