Titanic: why Kate Winslet regrets the naked scene of the portrait? – CineSeries

One of the many cult passages of “Titanic” is obviously the one where Jack draws the portrait of Rose. A sequence that Kate Winslet somewhat regrets having shot, for an astonishing reason.

titanic : and the world discovered Rose and Jack

A director with excessive ambitions, two promising actors, a cult song interpreted by Céline Dion, 11 Oscars, more than $1.8 billion in worldwide revenue when it was released… 25 years later, titanic hardly needs any introduction.

Since 1997, the love story between Rose (Kate Winslet) and Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) continues to thrill spectators, as does the exhilarating departure of the famously unsinkable ocean liner from Southampton, the discovery of the portrait of the heroine by Brock Lovett (Bill Paxton), the analysis of the different social classes and of course the tragic and breathless shipwreck…

With titanicJames Cameron offers the public a complete show, managing to alternate between opposing emotions and move from intimate sequences to choral scenes with fluidity and coherence. Billy Zane, Kathy Bates, Frances Fisher, Gloria Stuart, Bernard Hill, David Warner and Victor Garber complete the cast of this masterpiece, which is both a technological revolution and a Hollywood classic in the continuity of Lawrence of Arabia, Gone with the Wind, Ben Hur, The Ten Commandments and West Side Story.

Kate Winslet’s big regret

One of the most emblematic moments of the feature film is when Jack draws Rose’s portrait. To break the ice, Kate Winslet completely undressed in front of Leonardo DiCaprio during their pre-filming meeting. This did not prevent the young actor from being uncomfortable during the shooting of this scene. The discomfort came much later for the actress.

In 2014, when promoting DivergentKate Winslet tells Yahoo! that this sequence continues to “haunt” her. The reason ? Many fans ask him to autograph photos of Rose’s portrait. She explains about it:

I do not sign this photo. It makes me very uncomfortable. Why do people do this? People often ask me to sign this photo. (…) I didn’t want it to become a photograph that I would continue to see 17 years later. It still haunts me. It’s quite funny.
