Marvel Studios left it very late in the day to release the first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder. After leading many fans to believe he would arrive last Monday, today is when Marvel fans got their fix of Thor, as a brief 90-second teaser arrived with plenty of tantalizing shots and much remained to be revealed. Chris Hemsworth was also active on his Twitter account to welcome the trailer and promise fans that there’s something “big, loud, crazy and full of heart” coming in July when he last came out as Thunder God.
Thor: Love and Thunder is already pretty much guaranteed to be one of the summer’s biggest hits thanks to the reunion of Hemsworth and director Taika Waititi, who will once again bring the bright, action-packed retro extravagant style of Thor: Ragnarok to the MCU. With the cast including a whole host of returnees including Tessa Thompson, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista and Natalie Portman as well as newcomers Christian Bale and Russell Crowe, the one thing that is certain is that Thor: Love and Thunder will have to do something really bad to not join Marvel’s billion dollar club this summer.
Share trailer on sound Twitter accountHemsworth commented, “Here is the first teaser for Thor: Love and Thunder. All the sensations of a classic Thor adventure. Big, strong and crazy and full of heart. You will laugh you will cry, then you will laugh so much that you will cry again!! love and thunder coming to you all on July 8!!”
Marvel has a lot of big plans coming this year, starting with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
There’s no one who can keep fans hooked quite like Marvel Studios, and that’s been proven once again by the unexpected drop of the Thor: Love and Thunder trailer today. Having become the film with the shortest window between the first trailer and the film’s release – with the trailer falling just 81 days before the film’s theatrical release – there’s a lot of hype around Hemsworth’s return. Thor, the first Marvel Cinematic Universe character with a fourth solo movie, with the trailer racking up over 11 million views in the first 7 hours.
Obviously, Marvel Studios never does anything without a good reason, and with so many more projects to come before Thor arrives, it’s no surprise they held back on the first teaser. We are only two weeks away from the arrival of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessa film that will really launch the season of summer blockbusters in the direct continuation of the phenomenal success Spider-Man: No Coming Home. On top of that, the Disney+ series moon knight and Ms. Marvel now both receive a good portion of the promotion. While Thor: Love and Thunder is definitely going to be one of the biggest movies released this year, it’s obvious that Marvel Studios wants people to fully focus on the releases that precede it before moving full speed ahead.
