Although The Flash may not meet DC’s expectations, the firm continues to work on its new cinematic era, led by James Gunn and Peter Safran. We already know that the first film of this new DCU will be dedicated to Superman, but Batman is not far away and is the subject of much covetousness.
DC at the dawn of a new cinematic era
Almost everything changes at DC Studios, formerly DC Films. The old management, to which we owe the two upcoming films that are Blue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdomgave way to a new duo. The latter began by canceling a number of projects and restarting others, then he established a new roadmap with great ambitions. So we’re talking about a new DC, with new characters, actors, more consistent film productionsand other complementary audiovisual productions.
In short, DC wants to compete with Marvel and its well-established scheme. This should all start from 2025 with Superman: Legacy, a film that will not feature Henry Cavill, dismissed by Safan and Gunn who want to offer something else to break away from the films already released. We also know that a new Batman movie is going to be made with the title Batman: The Brave & The Boldand that it will focus on a comic released in 2006 entitled Batman and Son (Grant Morrison) in which Bruce discovers that he has a son named damian.
Is this the next adventure of Robert Pattinson in the Dark Knight outfit? No way ! The actor will don the outfit for The Batman 2, but it’s part of a separate timeline. Thus, the way seems all mapped out for us to discover a brand new actor in the role of Bruce Wayne. DC hasn’t revealed any casting yet, but one actor is showing a lot of cheekiness when it comes to expressing interest.
Dean Winchester, Soldier Boy… And soon Batman?
This actor is Jensen Ackleswho many know from his role as Dean Winchester for the series supernatural or for having embodied Soldier Boy In The Boys. Asked during the Jus in Bello convention in Rome, the actor very clearly said his desire to play Batman, and took the opportunity to very kindly tackle Pedro Pascalwhich the whole world has been talking about a lot these last months and which gives the feeling of being everywhere:
Could I do it? Yes. Would I like to do this? Yes. Will I be disappointed the day Pedro Pascal inherits the role? Yeah. God bless you Pedro. Keep doing what you do. Just let me know when you turn down a role.
However, Jensen Ackles made it clear that his speech was in no way a form of teasingbecause no discussions are taking place due to writers’ strike which is currently shaking Hollywood and which has put a large part of the production on hold:
There is a strike in the entertainment industry, and until this is resolved, no conversation will take place. (…) It seems like a lot of work, you know. You have to put on the Batman costume and be a superhero. I would love it. Sign me now!
